It was saying, "Use the fucking swear words!" What I was struggling with wasn't actually a swear word, but a poop metaphor. The word "authentic" gets thrown around a lot, but I like to simplify it even more: is it true? Does the word--whatever it is--capture the true feeling tone of what I'm trying to say, even if it might offend someone? Then I have to ask myself: is my goal to not offend people, or is my goal to say what I feel needs to be said in the best way I know how, the way that feels most true? You post helped clarify that beautifully. Onward, poop and all!
